Ready for Summer!

Well, we've certainly had our share of nasty weather this week! Gales, heavy rain and a cold wind! I know there has been the odd peek of sunshine too, but it's not enough! I find myself yearning for the days when I can wake in the morning and throw open the bedroom window as the sunlight streams through. I look forward to long evenings when I can leave the stable door open. How lovely to sit as the sun slowly sets, reading a book and sipping on a cool glass of wine.

It would be wonderful to breathe in the beautiful scent of my ancient rose as I tend the garden. But that is not to be just yet. So, in the meantime I hope you enjoy these photos which were taken during last Summer.

Of course, There are always these colourful, floral delights inside my home, which I surround myself with all year round!

I shall be counting the days until the clocks go forward on 25th March!

  2. Beautiful, inside and out, Clare! I think your indoor roses are as equally as lovely as those outside. Except for the ancient roses you grow; they take first prize, of course!

  12. Me too, I can hardly wait for the clocks to change. It does feel quite spring like here today as the sun is out but it's still very chilly with that wind. I love your front door picture. It looks so welcoming. The inside of your house looks gorgeous too. Definitely must give you a taste of summer with all those lovely colours and pretty flower prints.

  13. I am also so much longing for spring and summer - sitting outside until late at night or a breakfast on the balcony....
Is it only three more weeks until the clock changes for summer time?

  15. It's so confusing - last night the gritters were on the motorway and today when I walked to our local village the council had been cutting all the grassed areas and the smell of freshly mown grass was delightful! Spring is a-coming and you'll have that stable door open very soon.
    Best wishes

  17. Clare you would make my day if you could tell me the name of the colour of your front door! I have looked for it so many times and never really got it right. Can you let me know? Lovely pictures by the way, I love the looks you create with colour....

  18. Hi Clare - I don't think we'll be getting weather like that at Shepton on Sunday. Make sure you wear your Prague boots and wrap up warm! A woolly hat, too, rather than that lovely sunhat! Sue

  22. Clare-
I adore your front door and all of the beautiful color in the other pictures! The roses are magnificent as well.

We here in Chicago could use some nice weather too. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm which then turned to snow and then today 40 mph bone chilling winds. March has definitely come in like a lion!

    Come on Spring!!!!!!

  23. Hi there. Your door is so lovely, and those roses...just beautiful. For those in the U.S., our clocks move forward on 3/11 (which is new this year - 3 weeks earlier than it had been). I'm looking forward to longer days myself. Everyone is itching for spring I think. Thank you for posting the lovely pictures.

  40. Our clocks are springing forward earlier this year. We usually do it in early April here, but this year it will be next Sunday (March 11). Of course, it won't be heralding Spring at all. March came roaring in with winter storms and tonight the temp is supposed to go down to -26 celcius, and that's without the windchill!!

Your photos a lovely, especially the one of the front door. It looks so inviting!

  41. Thank you for your advice Clare :) I meant rose plant in a pot. Not fresh cut..they die so fast, and i really want to wanna keep one alive. They are just lovely. But how can i make them feel happy in my home ?

  52. Wow, I just looked at your blog, and while I like the colorless look of sepia, I can't get over how beautiful all the color in your home looks. It is like waking up to sunshine every morning. The two old prints of the roses in the vintage frames are awesome.
